It has emerged that around 70% of microbusinesses are unaware of the availability of smart meters for business.
The government has launched a consultation on proposals to raise awareness of smart meters among business energy consumers. It aims to ensure that all small businesses are offered a smart meter by 2020, as per the government’s smart meter rollout programme.
Part of the programme aims to tackle low awareness of smart meters among microbusinesses, while also considering approaches for the way non-domestic consumer energy usage data is made available in order to encourage better engagement.
The consultation closes on 21 February.
