Speaking on 6 August, Neil Carberry, CBI Managing Director for People and Infrastructure, labelled competitive energy prices as an “important part of a meaningful industrial strategy.” Carberry said the CBI would work with the review, ensuring “any recommendations support continued business investment and innovation in a secure, flexible and low-carbon energy supply, together with efforts to improve energy efficiency.”

Similarly, the manufacturer’s group EEF described the review as a “welcome recognition” from the government to the industry’s concerns over “increasingly uncompetitive energy prices” and the need to act.
