KiWi Power announced on 4 April that it has been appointed as business energy supplier Haven Power’s Demand Side Response (DSR) provider.
DSR is a mechanism that incentivises businesses to turn up or turn down the amount of power they use when there are peaks in demand. This helps to manage the load on the electricity network and allows businesses to increase their electricity demand when there is a surplus of power available and prices are lower. This in theory means that less carbon intensive generation is require to meet electricity demand at peak times.
Haven Power’s COO, Neil Isaacson, said: “We believe that a lower carbon UK and being more sustainable are both good for the world and good for business. […] Our customers will now have the opportunity to financially benefit from changing how they use energy, simply and seamlessly.”
