A committee of MPs has said that the government will need to keep Parliament fully informed of its negotiations with the EU regarding the new “clean energy package”.

Included in the package a wide range of measures designed to keep the EU competitive as the clean energy transition changed the global energy market.

The report which was issued on 31st January featured a statement from the European scrutiny select committee that stated; that given the interconnection between the UK and the EU, it would be vital to understand the aspects of the legislation that would have an impact following Brexit.

The MPs have said that the negotiations on the proposals related to the energy efficiency and the energy performance of buildings were likely to move forward swiftly and that it was possible that the UK would be required to implement them before it left the EU.
