Energy group Drax confirmed on 10 February that it had finalised the acquisition of the SME market supplier Opus Energy.

The £340mn deal was initially declared in December, with Drax saying at the time that Opus was a well-established retail business and that it offered a “compelling range” of strategic and financial benefits.

Speaking after the completion of the deal, chief executive Dorothy Thompson said: “Today we took another step forward in delivering our group-wide strategy. This addition to our existing retail offer will see our challenger brands, Opus Energy and Haven Power, working to provide the UK’s businesses with affordable, reliable and renewable energy.”
