E.ON UK has found that 67% of senior managers working for medium to large companies have no understanding of how the firm buys its energy.

53% of the respondents to the survey, which was issued on 29th November, stated that their management board had either a negative or neutral response to the importance of energy strategy and only 48% thought that there was no need for a short term energy policy.

Phil Gilbert, director of customer solutions at E.ON UK for Business, said: “To make the most of this opportunity energy needs to be thought about in the right way and at the right level––this is a strategic decision that rightly sits in boardroom discussions. For all businesses, there are opportunities to both implement more sustainable energy programmes and reduce internal costs. The energy buying process however just needs to be identified, understood, and then explored in the right way by the business.”
