The Minister of State for the Department Energy Strategy Baroness Neville-Rolfe has welcomed the opportunity to harness energy efficiency as part of the new government industrial strategy.
In her speech on 14th October, the Energy Minister highlighted the “strong link we now have between energy and business” within her department. This will allow for smarter energy use, which in turn will increase productivity, competitiveness and assist with the current climate change targets.
Neville-Rolfe said: “We’re serious about increasing our efficiency. Our Paris obligations represent an enormous challenge, they are also an opportunity in which energy efficiency can play a very significant role.”
Since one of the barriers identified in the speech was the “sheer inconvenience” of putting in place energy efficient improvements, the minister has promised to investigate how to gain more motivation when it comes to such upgrades.
