The government has now conceded that they will need to provide more support to make sure that the UK meets the climate targets, particularly in terms of the business sector.
On 13th October the government published its response to the Annual Progress Report from the Committee on Climate Change. They said they were “currently considering what more we can do in the business energy area” and went on to say that the newly created BEIS department would be helping to bring the energy sector in line with wider industrial strategy.
An integral part of this will be developing stronger based evidence relating to the emissions from both public buildings and businesses as a whole. The governments says they are currently working on this and that other areas of interest will be regarding renewable heat and energy efficiency.
