Frequent changes to the energy policy landscape in the UK are forcing investors to look more closely at other markets, according to industry body Energy UK chief executive Lawrence Slade.

In an interview with The Independent on 30 August, Slade said that the industry had seen “quite a lot of changes” since the Conservative government took office in May 2015, and that further uncertainty had recently been introduced by the vote to leave the European Union. He said: “We need that long-term clear plan so that people can actually plan, invest and see a return, and we get a steady build-up of lower-carbon technology.”

Slade also highlighted the “exciting” changes in the market, with energy users playing an increasingly active role, taking steps such as managing their consumption.
