The new Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has provided further details of the responsibilities of each of its ministers.

BEIS confirmed that Nick Hurd had been appointed as climate change and industry minister, and would be responsible for areas including carbon budgets, international climate change, climate science and innovation, and the green economy.

Baroness Neville-Rolfe, the new energy and intellectual property minister, will be responsible for nuclear power, oil and gas, low-carbon generation, security of supply, wholesale markets, energy efficiency, smart meters, and the EU single market.

Under-secretaries of state at the department include Margot James and Jesse Norman.
