SSE chief executive Alistair Phillips-Davies has written to the government calling for a move to “national pricing” for networks.

The letter, released on Monday 15 June, noted that companies operating the electricity networks in more remote areas such as the north of Scotland continued to face larger costs per customer, and that households and businesses continued to face significant differences in price based upon region.

Phillips-Davies said: “SSE believes that the variations in network costs across the GB causes customer confusion […]  SSE has long been making the case for tackling this and simplifying energy prices for customers.”
